Interlining
Woven Interlining for Blazers and Jackets
Sep 19, 2026

Blazers and jackets need the right internal support to maintain a clean and structured appearance. This is where woven interlining becomes useful. Unlike the outer fabric, which provides the visible finish, interlining works between fabric layers to add stability and help specific garment areas retain their intended shape. The choice of interlining can vary according to the fabric, garment construction, required stiffness, and section being supported. For example, a blazer chest, jacket front, collar, or other structured panel may require a different level of support from a lightweight or less structured garment area.
Woven fusible interlining is available in different GSM options, allowing manufacturers to select material according to the required construction. Double Ghoda's woven range covers 30 to 150 GSM, giving garment manufacturers several options when working with different fabrics and applications. The woven structure uses polyester yarns in the warp and weft, while a PA double-dot adhesive coating provides the fusible layer. This combination allows the interlining to bond with the garment fabric when suitable fusing conditions are applied.
GSM selection is an important consideration when working with blazers and jackets. A lighter interlining may be appropriate where only moderate support is required, while heavier grades can provide greater shape retention for more structured garment sections. However, choosing the highest GSM is not automatically the right approach. The final result depends on the outer fabric, garment design, desired hand-feel, and section being reinforced. Testing the selected woven interlining with the actual garment fabric can help manufacturers evaluate stiffness, bonding, appearance, and overall handling before production.
Fusing conditions should also be tested rather than assumed. Temperature, pressure, and dwell time can affect how the adhesive bonds to the outer fabric. Double Ghoda's woven fusible interlining range is supplied in roll form and is available in a 150 cm width, with the 111 quality listed at 140 GSM. For consistent production, manufacturers can compare samples across suitable GSM options and assess the finished panel before moving into bulk cutting and garment production. This approach helps align the interlining choice with the construction requirements of blazers and jackets.
